Oldham County is the highest ranking County district in Kentucky in the 2009 CATS (Comprehensive Achievement Test Scores) Combined Index results with a 101 average compared to the State-wide average of 86.  Our award winning school district maintains the highest accreditation possible from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools which is a high-standard both in the State and Nationally.

These outstanding results have been achieved through exceptional leadership provided by our locally elected school board, administrative staff at the district and school levels;  through high quality instruction provided on a daily basis by our dedicated and highly skilled teachers;  through the high expectations and support of our parents and community;  and last but not least, through the hard work of our students, who are encouraged to come to school every day ready to learn.

Oldham County Fiscal Court

Location:  100 W. Jefferson, Suite 4, LaGrange, KY  40031

Founded in 1824, Oldham County features beautiful rolling farmland, a growing, diverse population and a nationally recognized school system.  Located close enough to Louisville, Kentucky's largest city, for residents to enjoy its amenities, Oldham Countians can still reap the benefits of a small town feel with a rich rural and cultural history.

In Kentucky, fiscal court is similar to a county commission or county council in other jurisdictions, where priorities are set, policies are determined, and spending decisions validated.  Oldham County's Fiscal Court is made up of the judge-executive and eight magistrates who are elected to represent separate districts from throughout the county.  Among the responsibilities of the judge-executive are the preparation and execution of the annual county budget, overseeing the county's finances, supervising police, road maintenance, planning and development services, and recreation.  The judge-executive, with the agreement of Fiscal Court, makes appointments to most of the public boards and commissions operating in the county.

Although Oldham County has a great physical beauty, and we are proud of our county, we recognize people as our most valuable resource.  As a county government, our objective is to protect our quality of life through efficient application of our tax dollars, unmatched customer service among our agencies, excellent schools, respecting nature, well planned development, family-oriented recreational programs, higher value employment opportunities and civic activities.  We also are concerned about and support services and programs for the least able among us, citizens with physical disabilities or financial hardship.

The generosity of others is at the heart of the Y's existence as a nonprofit.  It is only because of the support of volunteers and donors that we are able to support and give back to our community.

To bring about meaningful change, people need ongoing encouragement and tools.  We're here day-in and day-out to provide the resources our community needs so that we can address the most pressing issues:  child welfare, education, community health, employment, and quality of life.  We work to make sure that every child, family and individual has what they need to achieve their best.

When you're a part of the Y, you're part of a community that's committed to help you learn nw things and make new friends in any stage of your life.  Our everyday mission is to help you achieve a balance of spirit, mind and body.  We do that by encouraging good health and fostering connections with new and old friends through sports, fun and shared interests.
